Ambassador Yehauda Avner is one of Israel's most astute political analysts.
A counselor and confidant of prime ministers Levi Eshkol, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin, Menachem Begin, and Shimon Peres.
He is now serving as a diplomatic political consultant to the Israeli government.
Ambassador Avner is the author of "The Young Inheritors" and recently had endowed the Yehuda Avner Chair on Religion and Politics at the Bar-Ilan University.
About the speaker:
Mr. Yehuda Avner was born in England and immigrated to pre-state Israel in 1947. He fought in the 1948 siege of Jerusalem.
He began his political career by joining the foreign ministry in 1960 and served over the next three decades in Israel's consulate in New York, its embassy in Washington, and as an ambassador to Ireland, Australia, and the court of Saint James in Britain.
